Purok Pluto in Sitio Balutakay, is one of the remote communities located on the slopes of Mt. Apo. Although it's popularly known as one of the jump-off points to the said mountain, it's coffee that has brought an additional level of economic prosperity to the area. From what some would consider an unforgiving landscape, Balutakay is now a thriving coffee industry.
The farmers here subsisted on planting temperate vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, spring onion, beans, lettuce, and more. In the process, much of the rainforests have been cleared, leading to soil erosion and degradation. Despite initial successes in vegetable production, many farmers continued to face financial difficulties due to unpaved roads, lack and expensive route access to the market. But with coffee being introduced in the area, things turned favorable for the farmers and their families. Marivic and several farmers actively participate in training sessions, seminars, and education that gained awareness and knowledge of the standard practices to produce quality and marketable coffee. Marivic's persistence in her coffee farming led her to bag the first place in Philippine Coffee Quality Competition in 2019.

In the same year until this day, her coffee represents a great cup in every Philippine Coffee Expo and recently in Global Coffee Expo in Portland Oregon 2023. She is the crowned Philippine Coffee Queen and represents Philippine Coffee in Global Coffee events and conventions. From seedlings to planting, harvest to bagging, farm to market, Marivic has been hands on every step of the way. Her beans are grown from single origin plants that have not been genetically modified. She believes in keeping her coffee clean and pure as possible not just for health reasons, but to protect the environment and the delicate flavor profile.

    Davao Del Sur

Our coffee plantation starts with an elevation of at least 1200 MASL (3937 FASL) have been gaining popularity because of its highly trained coffee farmers, prominent coffee flavor and aroma. Most coffee trees are 3 to 7 years old and have begun to bear fruit in clusters along their branches. Our farmers selectively hand-picked red cherries only and prefer to grow coffee the natural way, the cool shade of ancient trees where beans can ripen slowly. Coffee cherries don't ripen at the same time so in selective picking, farmers must make numerous passes over coffee trees for few weeks to collect the matured ripe cherries. Coffee here is grown in a sustainable environment, but the unfriendly access leads to farming coffee harder and lower yield. To transport cherries from trees to processing fields takes hours and strong arms and legs, but the excellent flavor remains, that our farmers hold and cannot afford to lose.
